Borrowing a piece of jewelry from one of your relatives may not seem like the most exciting thing to some, but when your grandmother-in-law is Queen Elizabeth II, it’s a totally different story.
Earlier this week, the Queen loaned the Duchess of Cambridge a very special and sentimental diamond bracelet. For theat Kensington Palace, Kate Middleton wore the ornate diamond-motif bracelet with a black lace Diane von Furstenberg gown and matching diamond earrings.
Although the Duchess previously wore the same DVF gown when she was pregnant with Princess Charlotte back in 2014, the new accessory offers a fresh take on the look.
But this isn’t just any diamond bracelet. The special piece once belonged to the Queen Mother and was most likely passed down to the Queen after her mother’s death in 2002. As People reports, there are pictures of the Queen Mother wearing the ornate diamond piece, officially named the Diamond Quatrefoil Bracelet, back in 1958. Queen Elizabeth II most recently wore the piece at the State Opening of Parliament in 2010.
